Due to the importance of Acari for maintaining the soil quality and the fragility of these individuals
to agricultural practices, it was evaluated the influence of the herbicide glyphosate and glyphosate
2.4-D on the population of edaphic Acari in non-tillage system (NT) and conventional tillage
system (CT). The research was accomplished in experimental areas at Faculty of Agricultural
Sciences, in Federal University of Grande Dourados, in Dourados, MS. In each system thus
were studied: herbicides (glyphosate, control and glyphosate+2.4-D), times (15, 30, 45, 60 and
75 days after herbicides spraying in treated plots) and depth (0 to 2.5 and 2.5 cm to 5 cm),
being 30 treatments in eight repetitions. Sampling of soil were carried out through rings of 2.5
cm length, with the aid of a soil extractor and, subsequently, the samples were placed in an
exposure table with Berlese funnels, where thus remained for seven days. Then, the individuals
from the samples were screened and identified. The experimental design was Completely
Randomized, in the factorial scheme, and the data were submitted to the analysis of variance
and the mean was compared by Duncan test (p <0.05). In the NT system, the herbicides influenced
the Acari populations, after 30 days from spraying. A greater number of individuals was observed
at 0 to 2.5 cm depth, and this did not affect the group of Acari Astigmata. In the PC system, there
was no effect of treatment with herbicides for the Acari Prostigmata group. The times influenced
all groups of Acari, because there was significant interaction between times and treatment for
Acari Prostigmata and Astigmata groups. The depth did not influence the Acari suborder
Astigmata. The interaction between depth and treatment was statistically significant only for
Mesostigmata. The superiority of the NT system on the number of Acari, compared to the CT,
demonstrated the importance of organic matter for these individuals. Acari Cryptostigmata was
predominant in both systems planting, as noticed in other studies. Both herbicides tested, as
the periods of sampling contributed to the increase of the edaphic Acari number. MenosDue to the importance of Acari for maintaining the soil quality and the fragility of these individuals
